Gov Bentley Appoints 2 PEs to the Board of Licensure

The Governor has made appointments for the 2 vacant board positions.

2012 position – Mr. Charles Willis was appointed (nominated by the Society of Mining Engineers).

2011 position – Mr. Marc Barter was appointed (nominated by the Structural Engineers Society).

There had been a problem with the 2011 nomination slate.  One of the candidates identified that he was no longer interested in being a board member due to work changes.  This caused the nominating committee to reconsider the slate of candidates.  The 2012 position had already been appointed so the nominating committee chose to consider all of the candidates that still had identified that they were interesting in seeking the position.  The committee sent Mr. Arkle’s, Mr. Barter’s, and Mr. Semmes’ names to the Governor.  The Governor selected Mr. Barter.

Mr. Willis has already been sworn in.  Mr. Barter will be sworn in at the board meeting on May 17.
